Trina Storage has secured over 65 projects in Europe since its first contract was signed in December 2020, with over 30 of these being in the UK
Trina Storage, a global energy storage solutions provider and a business unit of Trinasolar, has reached 6GWh of BESS orders in Europe, just five years after securing its first contract – a 50MWh installation in the UK – in December 2020.
Since then, Trina Storage has successfully secured over 65 projects across Europe, in the UK and ten other countries. Installations include more than 30 UK projects, a significant deployment of energy storage solutions nationwide.
Recent UK project highlights
AGR Renewables: three utility-scale BESS projects supporting grid flexibility across England
Trina Storage has recently secured contracts with AGR Renewables to carry out three utility-scale battery energy storage projects in England: Wymondley and Priory Generation in Hertfordshire, and Little Hale Fen in Lincolnshire. Together, the projects will deliver more than 400MWh of storage capacity, and will play an important role in supporting grid flexibility and the integration of renewable energy capabilities.
Scheduled for delivery in Q4 2026 and commissioning in H2 2027, these projects will deploy Trina Storage’s Elementa 2 Pro solution, selected for its advanced performance characteristics and suitability for large-scale, EPC-led developments.
Clarke Energy: a 100MWh installation
Trina Storage has also recently reached an agreement with Clarke Energy to supply a 100MWh BESS project in the UK. Trina Storage’s Elementa 2 solution has been chosen for this installation.
Deliveries for the project will be made in Q3 2026, with energisation planned by the end of the year. As with the AGR Renewables projects, this will bring much-needed grid flexibility to the area, helping Clarke Energy and their repeat customer make the most of the renewable energy potential of the local region.
Building on a strong storage tradition
After first developing the original Elementa system, which initially incorporated external cells, Trina Storage introduced Elementa 2 and Elementa 2 Pro in 2024, a more advanced, efficient system using in-house Trina LFP cells. Building on this foundation, Elementa 3 was launched in 2025, offering greater capacity, improvements in module energy density, and upgraded safety capabilities.
In 2025 Trina Storage expanded its portfolio with the launch of Elementa Electra, an AC-coupled BESS solution designed for large-scale storage applications. This addition enables greater control over delivery timelines, seamless integration with Trina Storage’s DC solutions, and a more comprehensive approach to managing the entire project lifecycle, from design through to long-term operation.
Gabriele Buccini, Head of Trina Storage Europe, said, “Reaching 6GWh of projects in Europe is testament to the outstanding work of our UK and wider European teams. There is so much more we can achieve in this area too: we look forward to continuing to refine and develop our technology, listening closely and adapting to the needs of customers, and setting a positive example for the wider BESS industry in the coming years.”
