Voltempo and Corpay partner on commercial vehicle charging

Voltempo and Corpay have partnered on a new model for electric truck and van charging, to support zero emission freight fleets with greater energy security.

The partnership combines Voltempo’s network of commercial vehicle depot-based charging sites with Corpay’s global fleet payment platform, EV charging network and energy procurement capability.

Under the agreement, Corpay’s global fleet platform will connect operators directly to the Voltempo charging network, enabling fleets to locate, book and pay for charging at depots using existing EV charge cards.

Corpay and Voltempo will procure electricity on behalf of customers from a third party, using a bunkering-style approach to energy procurement that supports greater cost certainty and enhanced energy resilience.

The firms said the model could allow operators to access charging, energy and payments through a single platform while avoiding the upfront capital investment required for depot charging infrastructure.

Voltempo is currently developing a nationwide network of high-power charging hubs located at logistics depots.

Simon Smith, CEO of Voltempo, said, “By bringing together charging infrastructure energy procurement and fleet payments into a single commercial model, we’re removing some of the biggest barriers operators face.

“We’re demonstrating that electric trucks and vans can be more profitable, more productive and ultimately better for operators’ businesses, with lower emissions as an additional benefit.”

Tom Rowlands, Managing Director, Global EV Solutions, Corpay, including UK brand Allstar, said, “Fleets are fundamentally changing the way they operate, and we are increasingly seeing demand grow for innovative solutions to support the deployment of more commercial electric vehicles, be that vans or HGVs.

“Partnerships like this give our customers access to a greater breadth of high quality charging solutions.”
