Public access EV charging infrastructure specialist Zest is working with Lewisham Council to deliver a major expansion of public EV charging across the borough.
The project will see the installation of at least 200 charging points across Lewisham, specifically designed for households who rely on on-street parking.
Under the agreement, Zest will invest an initial £1.5 million to deliver, operate and maintain the charging network over the next 15 years, at no cost to the council or the taxpayer.
In addition, the council has secured £100,000 through the Government’s On-Street Residential Chargepoint Scheme (ORCS).
The first charger, on Childers Street, went live in December and there are now fourteen charging spaces live across the borough.
Leeds-based Zest is one of the UK’s fastest growing investor-operators of public access EV charging infrastructure, and works in partnership with local authorities as well as the real estate sector across the UK.
It is backed by the Government-sponsored Charging Infrastructure Investment Fund (CIIF).
This means Zest can invest in larger projects that anticipate future demand, act more quickly to deliver essential EV infrastructure and make a tangible contribution to net zero.
