Facilities management behemoth Mitie has secured a £ 4.3 million contract to install EV charging points at 120 job centres nationwide run by the Department of Work & Pensions.
Today’s deal builds on Mitie’s five-year relationship with the ministry, including maintenance, engineering, cleaning services and asset safety checks.
Design, operation and maintenance of the chargers are centrepieces of the deal, smoothing a route to the DWP’s declared goal of an all-electric vehicle fleet by 2030.
The contract is Mitie’s second large-scale EV infrastructure roll out for the public sector. In August it agreed a £4.5 million contract to install and maintain charge points for the Environment Agency, a delivery body of the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA).
Today’s job centre deal draws on Mitie’s record of installing more than 2,000 EV charging points across private sector sites, including some of its own employees’ homes.
Mitie acquired Interserve’s facilities management business in November 2020. It now employs 68,000 people.
