Government is tendering for a supplier to work on a digital delivery platform which it hopes will help unlock up to £500m in energy efficiency savings in the SME sector.
The department for business, energy and industrial strategy (Beis) committed to making more information and advice on energy efficiency to smaller firms in its Clean Growth Plan. The overall aim is to drive businesses towards a minimum 20% increase in energy productivity by 2030.
BEIS said research suggests SMEs could save £0.5bn a year by being more energy efficient but insufficient action is being taken.
The department is therefore tendering for “a specialist agile team to work with us on the Alpha phase to develop 3 prototypes designed to nudge SMEs onto the energy efficiency journey and trigger action”.
The department has up to £250,000 to spend on the project.
The closing date for asking questions is Monday 26 February, the closing date for applications is 5 March.
So far, there are two incomplete applications for the work.
