EV charge point operator Believ has partnered with Somersham Parish Council in Cambridgeshire to install two fully funded charge points.

The Somersham Village Hall car park facility will cater to the needs of visitors and residents of nearby streets where private at-home charging is not feasible.

Situated close to the high street and local park, its location ensures high accessibility and usage throughout the week.

The partnership aims to offer local residents more sustainable transportation options, enhance air quality and reduce direct carbon emissions.

Additionally, Believ re-painted the car park line marking, making the charge points much more visible.

Daryl Potter, Somersham parish council chair, said, “It was essential for us to establish EV charging infrastructure at the village hall, as the nearest facility was an 11-minute drive away.

“By providing such local infrastructure, we ensure that both residents and visitors have reliable and accessible charging options.

“Partnering with Believ and utilising its fully funded model allowed us to overcome the financial challenges of installing the charging infrastructure.”

Amanda Rymell, senior public sector partnerships manager at Believ, added, “Our commitment is to make sure everyone benefits from the transition to electric vehicles.

“This involves significantly expanding charging infrastructure beyond urban areas, so that everyone can comfortably switch to an EV and contribute to cleaner air for all.”

Earlier this month Believ announced it had installed an EV charge point at Broughton Village Hall, Hampshire, that will provide residents and visitors with publicly accessible charging infrastructure.

The rapid charge point can facilitate two vehicles, with a choice of between 50kw and 20kw charging speeds.
