Co-op is expanding its electric home delivery fleet with a £1.5 million investment in more than 50 new Toyota Proace City compact vans.
Toyota is an established partner of Co-op’s Quick Commerce app-based rapid delivery operation, which has a goal of growing its online business.
The order forms part of Co-op’s fleet replacement and upgrade programme, and supports its carbon reduction and net zero goals.
All versions of the Proace City have space enough for two Europallets, while the Smart Cargo folding seat system – provided as standard – adds to the cargo capacity, enabling longer items to be carried.
It also comes with a three-year manufacturer warranty, followed by an additional 12 months/10,000 miles warranty with every qualifying service at an authorised Toyota centre, up to 100,000 miles or 10 years.
Anthony Molloy, Co-op Quick Commerce Delivery and Technology Manager, said, “We continually explore new and better ways in which we can enhance reliability, extend our reach and better serve our members, customers and communities.
“This investment is another step toward reducing emissions from our fleet and lowering our impact on the climate, so we are delighted to take delivery of our new fleet of electric online home delivery vehicles.”
Neil Broad, General Manager One Toyota Fleet Services, said, “Our Proace City vans are proving the ideal solution for Co-op in its drive to provide prompt, reliable and efficient delivery services to its millions of customers nationwide while at the same time making a sustainable contribution towards achieving the company’s carbon reduction and net zero goals.”
