Medisort adopts BEDEO’s electric retrofit solution

Clinical waste collection specialist Medisort is to electrify its fleet by adopting BEDEO’s Reborn Electric RE-100 Range Extender technology.

With its 73 miles of electric range, the solution integrates with the existing diesel mode, allowing the fleet to travel in urban areas on electric-only mode and utilise the diesel engine for longer distances.

The technology will allow Medisort to reduce its cost of ownership by extending the life of its X250 diesel vans while limiting emissions.

At the heart of the RE-100 retrofit solution are its two in-wheel motors and a 37 kWh battery developed and manufactured by BEDEO’s group company Protean Electric.

The compact and lightweight in-wheel motors are fitted to the rear axle, ensuring no suspension or rear cargo modifications are necessary, thus preserving ground clearance, load space and existing cargo systems.

Catering to various healthcare organisations such as dentists, care homes, and hospitals, Medisort aims to significantly reduce its carbon footprint by embracing the technology.

Farnham-based BEDEO can fit Reborn Electric solutions to a wide range of large commercial vans including the Citroën Jumper, Fiat Ducato, the Peugeot Boxer and Vauxhall Movano.

Its blue-chip customers include DHL, DPD, Ocado and FedEx.

Stuart Brittle, Managing Director, Medisort, said, “The ability to start our journey towards a greener, more sustainable future without jeopardising any of our key partners or clients is a huge step towards transforming our fleet and our operations to keep doing what we do, just in a more sustainable, flexible and cost-effective manner.”

Osman Boyner, CEO and Founder of BEDEO, said, “Our systems enable companies to prolong the lifespan of existing vehicles while retaining crucial fit outs, ultimately minimising costs and environmental impact.”
