Osprey Charging has opened one of the largest ultra-rapid EV hubs in the Midlands and West of England at Twyford Services.

The site, located at the busy intersection of the A46 and A44, includes 16 high-powered chargers using Kempower technology capable of delivering up to 300kW.

For the average EV, this means adding about 100 miles of range in 15 to 20 minutes.

The Twyford facility has been built on land owned by Osprey, enabling the company to deliver a larger, purpose-built charging facility using its latest hardware and software platforms.

It also features new Adyen payment terminals, allowing drivers to enter their PIN when required – improving reliability for customers when bank cards cannot complete contactless transactions.

The charge points accept contactless bank cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, RFID cards and all major fleet payment methods, with no app required, although Osprey does also have its own app available.

As with all Osprey locations, the hub is powered by 100% renewable electricity.

Ian Johnston, CEO of Osprey Charging, said, “Reliable, high-power charging hubs on major UK roads are essential for the transition to electric vehicles.

“Twyford Services is a flagship site for Osprey – a large, purpose-built hub in a location that needed better charging coverage.

“Because we own the land, we have been able to build a bigger, future-proofed site using our latest technology, giving drivers the confidence they need to travel long distances in an EV.

“This is exactly the kind of reliable, super-fast infrastructure the UK needs as electric vehicle adoption continues to grow.”
