Renault Trucks has announced it will be taking orders for its range extended E-Tech T model, designed for long-haul transport, from next year.
The increased 600km range on a single charge is achieved by integrating an electric axle into the truck.
E-axle technology enables all the elements of the powertrain – electric motors and transmission – to be grouped together at the rear of the vehicle, freeing up space between the side members to accommodate additional battery packs.
It will be produced by the Renault Trucks Bourg-en-Bresse plant in France, which has been assembling the brand’s electric models since the end of 2023.
The current E-Tech T model has a range of up to 300km on a single charge with a 500km range available if it incorporates an intermediate one-hour fast charge (250kW).
In addition, Renault Trucks will continue to offer customers a wide range of configurations and equipment tailored to their individual operations.
The manufacturer can also provide hauliers with advanced simulation tools enabling each electric truck to be configured according to specific needs.
Emmanuel Duperray, Senior Vice President Electromobility at Renault Trucks said, “The advent of this electric truck will boost the transition to electric mobility.
“We believe that a range of 600 km on a single charge, combined with the development of public charging infrastructure networks by 2026 – in particular through our joint venture Milence – will enable us to achieve the operational parity (with diesel technology) that our customers expect.
“Oversized batteries penalise the payload, raise total operating costs and increase the environmental footprint.”
