Wenea – as part of the Deletti EV infrastructure funding initiative headed up by Devon County Council with participation from other regional councils – has supplied 14 new charge points to the area.
The first were deployed in collaboration with Torbay Council and Mid Devon District Council, while others will be commissioned alongside East Devon District Council, Teignbridge District Council, South Hams District Council, West Devon District Council, and Kenton Parish Council.
The Deletti project is dedicated to providing practical charging solutions that encourage the use of EVs, especially for residents without off-street parking.
Strategically placed across Devon, the charge points will help to meet the growing demand for EV infrastructure in the county prescribed by DCC’s Electrical Vehicle Charging Strategy.
This initial deployment includes a combination of mostly rapid but also standard charging installations, allowing for versatile charging options tailored to varying local needs and dwell times.
Wenea has a live data partnership with Zapmap, meaning that users of the Zapmap app and web map can access the availability and live status of Wenea charge points.
Gustavo Prince, Wenea’s Director of Operations, said, “Wenea is committed to delivering a comprehensive network of EV charging stations across Devon, with the goal of encouraging the take-up of EVs in the county and supporting the tourism industry.
“Devon’s EV Charging Strategy identifies that transport represents around one third of Devon’s emissions.
“We’re proud to deliver infrastructure that will contribute to a reduction in those emissions and make Devon’s residents more connected.”
Nick Barton, Project Manager, said, “Working alongside teams from across the various Devon councils we are rolling out rapid charging in areas where there has been little to none up until now, providing EV users with charging provision where it is most needed.”
