Motus and Ford & Slater in shared depot charging initiative

DAF Trucks dealers Motus and Ford & Slater have opened their depot charging facilities to third-party commercial fleets via the Paua Share initiative.

The dealer groups will add 16 new truck charging locations to the Paua truck and shared depot ecosystem, providing fleets running electric rigid and articulated trucks with practical, reliable charging options.

Importantly, the depots will welcome electric trucks from any manufacturer.

Motus has worked with Envevo to install the chargers, while Ford & Slater has partnered with EO to install its charge points.

Paua has subsequently integrated both dealer groups into its platform, enabling fleets to access depot infrastructure using its EV charging payment and depot sharing capability.

Ford & Slater has 16 locations across the UK, including depots in Leicester, Peterborough, Norwich, Wisbech, King’s Lynn, Lincoln, Chesterfield, Sheffield, Leeds, Corby, Coventry, Newark, Birtley, and Stockton.

Meanwhile, Motus Commercials mainly covers Scotland, the Midlands, and has key sites in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Carlisle, Derby, Nottingham, Manchester, Birmingham and Hull.

The two dealer groups have also supplied 20% of the electric trucks in the UK’s Zero Emission HGV and Infrastructure Demonstrator (ZEHID) programme.

Niall Riddell, CEO and co-founder of Paua, said, “Motus and Ford & Slater joining Paua Share is a strong example of the industry working together to accelerate electric truck adoption.

“Depot charging is a critical part of the ecosystem.

“By opening trusted depot infrastructure to other fleets, we can rapidly extend the usable charging network for electric trucks across the UK.”

John Jesson, EV and connected services manager at Motus Commercial, said: “As more businesses transition to electric trucks, enabling shared access to depot charging will help fleets operate with greater confidence and flexibility.”
