BP Pulse has announced the extension of its long-standing partnership with Transport for London (TfL) to install on-street rapid EV charge points in the capital.
The framework agreement, which commenced in 2018, has now been extended to 2029.
BP Pulse has invested significantly in upgrading the existing charging estate, replacing some of the original units installed in seven years ago with the latest charging technology.
Phases one, two and three of a recent upgrade programme are complete, delivering almost 130 new chargers, while Phase four – covering a further five chargers – is scheduled for completion by end of November.
These next-generation chargers are not only more reliable but are seeing an average increase of 50% in usage compared to older units.
The BP Pulse and TfL network encompasses more than 150 chargers, located across London Boroughs and extending to areas like Watford and Epping Forest.
These chargers play a crucial role in supporting the adoption of EVs in the capital, with a particular focus on providing dedicated infrastructure for the ride-hail and taxi sector.
BP Pulse currently has 3,500 rapid and ultra-fast charging points across the UK.
Valerio Ferro, General Manager at BP Pulse UK, said: “We are delighted to extend our agreement with TfL to 2029.
“We’ve been working hard to upgrade the charging infrastructure across London and we’re about to enter the final phase of the upgrade.
“We’re seeing increased demand on the new chargers, showing how important it is for taxis and ride hails to have the EV infrastructure in the right places.”
