Hounslow Council has appointed charge point operator Zest to deliver a new network of rapid EV charging infrastructure across the borough.
The contract is part of the council’s plan to install more than 2,000 new charge points, and the rollout is fully funded by the charge point operator.
Each Zest charge point will feature high-speed charging capability, contactless and app-based payment options as well as 24/7 customer support to ensure a reliable and seamless user experience.
Residents will have the opportunity to share their views on proposed locations and help shape the network during an upcoming consultation, which will follow technical and site surveys.
Leeds-based Zest is one of the UK’s fastest growing investor-operators of public access EV charging infrastructure, and works in partnership with local authorities and the real estate sector across the UK.
It is currently expanding its EV charging network across a growing number of UK locations, including at Starbucks, Aldi, Tesco, KFC, Home Bargains, and Central Co-op sites.
Councillor Katherine Dunne, Cabinet Member for Climate, Environment and Transport, said, “Expanding our EV network is a key part of building a cleaner, greener borough.
“By working with industry partners, we’re ensuring residents have convenient, reliable and affordable options for charging close to home and across Hounslow.”
Robin Heap, Chief Executive Officer at Zest, said, “These high-quality amenities enable residents, visitors and local businesses to charge their vehicles quickly and conveniently, making it easier to switch to EV and revitalising local communities.
“Hounslow Council is backing its ambitious strategy with bold action, and we are proud they chose to work with Zest.”
